Capt Allan J Couto a Master Mariner, member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and a marine auditor, started his career as a young cadet with SCI (Shipping Corporation of India). After sailing on various vessels he joined Transworld Group in 1988 as a Master Mariner and still serves this group. Transworld Group of companies owns and operates over 25 feeder vessels, owns and manages various warehouses and have their own fleet of over 50,000 containers and have been in the business of feeder operations since 1976. After commanding and sailing on various container bulk and tanker vessels, Allan was appointed as the Vice President of UASC Liner Agency operations in 1995 and was responsible for Transworld Shipping in India for over seven years. In 2002 Capt Couto initiated and then inducted as President of the groups International division and spearheaded the formation of a Transworld office in USA to oversee the trade and logistics services between USA and our other group countries. Capt Allan Couto brings with him vast experience in the field of vessel management, port agency handling, dry cargo chartering, liner operations and is fully involved in integrated logistics including project management. He recently represented the NYNJFF&BA with the FMC in Washington to brainstorm on issues of detention and demurrage and topics that create impediments in the daily management of containers passing through USA ports and rail depots. Allan was elected to the Board of Governors for the New York New Jersey Foreign Freight Forwarders and Brokers Association and appointed as the Vice President of Export in June of 2021.
